As a 24 yr old mother of 2 gorgeous & umm 'active' boys, I decided to create this blog for the following reasons:
- A love of children
- A desire to share my 10 yrs of academic, professional and 'hours of surfing' knowledge on pregnancy & child development
- To do my best in creating a solution to my past/present frustrations of not being able to find immediate online answers during those times where emotion has clouded the logical "just wait til tomorrow or next week".
A little about me and my own pregnancies: I had my first child 33 weeks the day after my last uni exam for. Talk about good timing! However, it was a close call; that day I wasn't feeling well. Just could not get out of bed and had a very heavy head with bad headaches. Relatives got worried and took me to the walk-in-clinic, where the doctor proceeded to tell me that he could not do anything for me and just sent me home. I felt worse and found out my family doc was on holidays so I had to go to the hospital. Thank God because after a few minutes the Dr. came and told me that I had suddenly developed hypertension and baby's heartbeat was going down, plus I was dilating so I would have to have an emergency C-Section in 10 mins. Apart from my husband fainting all went well and I gave birth to a 3 pound mini-baby who was actually completely fine and did not even need to be in an incubator. Yay for happy endings.
Oh ya Did I mention I was using 2 methods of birth control while i got pregnant?
In June 2009 my 2nd son was born. (being pregnant during final year exams is even more stressful).That too was via C-Section but at least this one was 4 pounds instead of 3!
During those times, I saw every kind of pregnancy related challenge and symptom in the books, including those I never knew existed.
The best part is that i was diagnosed in 2006 with polycystic ovaries due to extremely irregular periods throughout my life and told I may not be able to have children. Hahahaha...
By Gods grace me and my babies have always been fine. I have now chosen to be a full-time mother and it has been one of the biggest blessings in my life.
It is my pleasure to share my knowledge and thoughts that will hopefully provide useful information at the time when you need it most!!!
